Challenge
The goal was to fit a complete investigation into a mobile web interface, make clues readable without a heavy inventory and connect separate encounters into one story where decisions affect tension and the ending.
GAME / INTERACTIVE FICTION / MOBILE WEB
Night Shift: Door No. 9 is an original mobile browser game about the night attendant of an old apartment building. Players question visitors, verify their stories, connect clues across cases and decide whether to open the door, hold a guest or call the night service.
Why the game was created
The game explores trust through memory, habits and signs of real life rather than paperwork and numbers. Every visitor creates an ambiguous choice, while the single-night narrative reveals the consequences of haste and attentive observation.
The project is made for players who enjoy compact narrative mysteries, moral choices and atmospheric mobile stories. It requires no installation or game account: the complete shift runs directly in a browser.
The goal was to fit a complete investigation into a mobile web interface, make clues readable without a heavy inventory and connect separate encounters into one story where decisions affect tension and the ending.
We built a self-contained browser game with HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Its narrative engine presents visitors and investigation tools, preserves discovered threads on a case board, evaluates decisions and selects the shift's ending from the accumulated mistakes.
Capabilities
The capabilities support one operating scenario and share common state, control and analytics.
Each night visitor brings a separate story, while discovered details form one continuous line leading to the final door.
Players ask questions, review recordings, call residents and reveal extra observations before committing to a choice.
Meaningful traces from different encounters remain visible and help reveal recurring details across the night.
Every visitor supports several actions, and the game immediately reveals the human or unsettling consequence of the decision.
The shift ends differently depending on decision quality, from a house that endured the night to a disturbing reversal.
Rain, light, film grain, portraits and procedural sound build tension entirely with mobile-browser capabilities.
Outcome
The result is a complete interactive story with its own world, characters, illustrations and sound. Compact investigations are connected by a shared case board and variable ending, making every choice feel like part of one tense night.
